英語的Bible詞來自古法語bible,法語是根據(jù)拉丁語的biblia及希臘語biblia來的，二者的意思都是“書”（biblion的復(fù)數(shù)），指的是天主教和基督教的《圣經(jīng)》。

《圣經(jīng)》分《舊約》Old Testament 及《新約》 New Testament 兩大部分，《舊約》是耶穌生前在以色列一直流傳下來的，《新約》是耶穌的四個宗徒記載耶穌事跡及其教訓(xùn)而寫成的四大福音：馬太（瑪竇）福音Matthew，馬可（瑪爾谷）福音Mark，路加福音Luke，及約翰（若望）福音John,另外就是其他宗徒的書信。

《圣經(jīng)》原為希伯來文，后譯為希臘文，然后譯為拉丁文。自公元8世紀(jì)起，首先由英王阿爾弗雷德Alfred將部分《圣經(jīng)》譯為古英語；以后有其他英文本圣經(jīng)。

真正標(biāo)準(zhǔn)全譯的英文圣經(jīng)是1604年英王James I（1566?1625）召集47位學(xué)者由Lancelot Andrew主教領(lǐng)導(dǎo)主持，開始將拉丁文圣經(jīng)譯為英文，至1611年完成并出版。世稱“欽定版”Authorized Version。《圣經(jīng)》文字優(yōu)美，對后來伊麗莎白時代的文體有很大影響。是為最完備的英文圣經(jīng)，流傳至20世紀(jì)。至20世紀(jì)80年代，又有學(xué)者將A.V.版《圣經(jīng)》中的中世紀(jì)英語用詞（如has作hath,you作thee,your作thy...）改成現(xiàn)代英語用語，出版“The New King James Version" Holy Bible,其他完全保持原文。成為最標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的現(xiàn)代英語版《圣經(jīng)》。

Dew
n.露，露水

在巴勒斯坦，五至八月為炎熱干燥的季節(jié)，缺少雨水，植物的生長全靠夜間的露水，露水在巴勒斯坦居民的生活中，占有非常重要的地位。因此，《圣經(jīng)》中多處提出露水，dew有多種比喻。

1、上天祝福的跡象

《舊約》“創(chuàng)世紀(jì)”27章28節(jié)

Therefore may God give you of the dew of heaven, of the fatness of the earth,and plenty of grain and wine.

2、培育

《舊約》“申命紀(jì)”32章2節(jié)

Let my teaching drop as the rain, my speech distill as the dew ,as rain drops on the tender herb, and as showers on the grass.

3、和平安寧

《舊約》“詩篇”133篇3節(jié)

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is,

For brethren to dewll together in unity!

It is like the dew of Hermon,

Dsecending upon the mountains of Zion;

For there the Lord commanded the blessing -Life forever more.

4、君王之恩

《舊約》“箴言”19章12節(jié)

"The King's wrath is like the roaring of lion,but his favor is like dew on the grass."

5、熱的消除

《舊約》“以賽亞書”18章4節(jié)

"For so the lord said to me, 'I Will take my rest,and I will look from my dewling place like clear heat in sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest."

6、美好的生活的許諾

《舊約》“彌迦書”5章7節(jié)

" Then the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples,like dew from the Lord, like showers on the grass, that tarry for no man nor wait for the sons of men ."
